Hollywood Anti-Piracy Team Had Several Third-Party Kodi Add-Ons Removed

Kodi is one of the most popular media platform available today, but that popularity might dwindle in the months to come due to Hollywood’s anti-piracy alliance taking aim at several third-party Kodi add-ons that are linked with piracy.

These streaming add-ons usually make it possible for users to stream movies and TV shows for free. Now then, because they are so sophisticated many consumers from around the world have decided to purchase a Kodi streaming box to consume their favorite shows.

It’s big business, but with this crackdown, things could finally be coming to an end.

The add-ons that are no longer available

A report from TorrentFreak has made it clear that add-ons such as urlresolver, metahandler, Bennu, DeathStreams, and Sportie, have all gone offline. Their creators, jsergio123 and The_Alpha, have both confirmed the death of their add-ons, and chances are, this is the end of their venture.

We understand that The_Alpha team received a letter from the Hollywood anti-piracy alliance to their home in the United Kingdom:

“This letter is addressed to you by companies of the six-major United States film studios represented by the Motion Picture Association (MPA), namely Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc., Disney Enterprises, Inc., Paramount Pictures Corporation, Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation, Universal City Studios LLLP and Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc., Netflix, Inc. and Amazon Studios LLC (represented by MPA via the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE)), Sky UK Limited, and The Football Association Premier League Limited,” according to the opening paragraph.

This is a massive blow to the company behind Kodi because let’s face it; the platform is popular primarily due to its ability to load third-party add-ons that deliver content illegally over the web. It’s the reason why many consumers have invested in Kodi streaming boxes.

Despite the crackdown, we are expecting a revival in the months to come. You see, Hollywood has been fighting piracy for decades, but nothing much has come of it. Several individuals were arrested in the past for hosting content illegally, but as they fall, another rises from the ashes to take their place.

The Pirate Bay is the perfect example of how difficult it is to destroy piracy on the web. This platform went offline quite a few times due to Hollywood and its anti-piracy team, but it has always managed to return.

Now, The Pirate Bay is not as popular as it once was as others have surpassed it, but it’s still a force to be reckoned with.

The likely scenario here is that other third-party Kodi add-ons will come to life in the near future, and then the cycle continues in this ever entertaining game of cat and mouse.
