This month May, every year is the month for a lot of smartphone launches which include both the flagships and mid-range budget phones. We already know that the OnePlus 6 and the LG G7 Thinq are part of the launches that are gonna take place this month. So, here’s a list of all the smartphones that are gonna get launched this month.
List of Best Smartphone Launches In May 2018:
OnePlus has announced the OnePlus 6 which is going to be released on May 16th in London and then later, on May 17th in India. We have already seen a lot of leaks from which we know that the device is gonna come with a notch display and Snapdragon 845. Also, there’s gonna be a ceramic version of the same apart from the glass back body.
With 8GB RAM onboard and 256GB internal storage being the high version, the device is gonna come with Dash Charge V2 which, as the company says is better than the previous version. The device is gonna come with Android Oreo 8.1 out of the box, and yes, there is a 3.5mm jack.
LG G7 Thinq
The LG G7 Thinq was already launched by LG on May 2nd in New York. Being the first LG phone that comes with a notch display, the device is gonna offer the same AI-based camera features just like the LG V30 variants. After maybe four variants, LG has come back to placing the power button on the side rather than on the behind. Also, there is a dedicated button to reach Google Assistant now.
With a 6.1-inch Quad HD display of 19:9 aspect ratio, this is the first smartphone to have Super Bright Display with up to 1000 nits brightness and even then, being power efficient. It is powered by the Snapdragon 845 and LG introduced new AI features such as Voice AI and Vision AI.
The Honor 10 is already launched in China and the global launch is scheduled on May 15th. This device comes with the same glass sandwich as its predecessors, a Full HD+ notch display and 19:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood is the Huawei’s home-brewed HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset.
It comes with 6GB of RAM and multiple storage options to choose from. There is 24MP + 16MP dual-lens rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and a single 24MP camera on the front with f/2.0 aperture. Coming with EMUI 8.1 based on Android Oreo out of the box, it is powered by a 3400 mAh battery and also supports 5V/4.5A (22.5W) super fast charging.
Xiaomi Mi A2
The Mi 6X, which is already on sale in China is rumored to be released as the Mi A2 in the global market. Even though there is no official confirmation from the company, the rumors themselves talk enough. The design, which looks similar to that of Redmi Note 5 Pro though, lacks the 3.5mm audio jack.
It has a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display and is powered by Snapdragon 660. There’s dual-lens rear camera setup which contains 20MP Sony IMX376 and 12MP Sony IMX486 sensors with f/1.8 aperture. Coming to the front, it has a 20MP Sony IMX376 for taking selfies. It comes with a 3010 mAh battery and supports Quick Charge 3.0.
Xiaomi Redmi S2
As per the leaks suggest, Xiaomi will also be launching a budget smartphone with Redmi tag which comes with a dual-lens rear camera and an 18:9 display. It is said to have a 6-inch HD+ display (1440×720 pixels) and is powered by Snapdragon 625 chipset.
The dual-lens rear camera setup is said to have 12MP + 5MP along with EIS and LED flash. There will be a 16MP selfie camera which also supports portrait mode. Running on MIUI 9.5 based on Android Oreo 8.1 out of the box, it will be having 3080 mAh battery and supports 10W fast charging.
HMD Global has showcased the Nokia X in an event held in China before its launch on May 16th. Initially being limited to the Chinese market, the smartphone will soon be coming to international market. As seen in the images, the phone is going to have a notch display which is also a first for Nokia.
The device has a dual-lens rear camera setup along with a fingerprint below them. The device is said to be launched in two variants, mainly, Snapdragon 660 along with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage and Helio P60 along with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The device will be running on the latest Android Oreo 8.1 out of the box.
Moto G6, Moto G6 Plus & Moto G6 Play
Lenovo acquired Motorola has already launched these devices and is currently selling them only in Brazil. All of these sport an 18:9 display and are powered by Snapdragon chipsets. While the Moto G6 and G6 Plus come with 12MP + 5MP dual rear cameras, the Moto G6 Play sports only a single 13MP rear camera sensor.
All the three devices have LED flash both on front and back. Also, the Moto G6 and Moto G6 Plus come with a fingerprint sensor on the front while on the G6 Play, it is embedded into the Moto logo on the back. Similar to what we’ve seen in G6 series, these devices will also support Turbo Charging technology.
